What we publish

Slow Interiors covers the decisions that make a home calm. One room at a time — what stays, what leaves, where the light crosses. Objects described by what they are made of and what they cost to own. Materials known by touch: linen, oak, lime plaster, wool. Storage treated as design, not as a bin you buy.

We do not publish room makeovers, trend roundups, or anything whose value expires with the season. If a thing is not worth owning, we say so — in the article, not a footnote.

The editorial line

Quiet is a design decision. Every guide we write is judged against that sentence. A recommendation that adds a fourth chair to a corner that already holds three has failed the test, however good the chair is.

How we make money

We earn commissions from some of the links on this site. When you buy through one, the retailer pays us a percentage and you pay nothing extra. That is the entire business model, and it is the reason we can afford long guides instead of listicles.

It also creates an obvious conflict, so we handle it in three ways. First, every article carries a disclosure. Second, our How We Test page sets out what we will and will not recommend. Third, and most importantly, we tell you when the answer is to change nothing — that happens more often than you would expect from a site that earns commission.

Who we are

Four editors with four different reasons to distrust a trend: an interiors writer, an architectural draughtsman, a craft journalist and a textile-trained materials editor. Full backgrounds on the masthead page.

Independence

We do not accept payment for coverage, we do not let brands approve copy, and we do not run sponsored articles. Any advertising on the site is clearly marked and sold by placement, never by editorial mention.
